What earthis means

earthis reads two ways: “earth is” and “earth this”.

The two words share the th. That is why, in the logo, the blue of earth and the orange of this overlap at th.

Principles

1. The two stances are equal. The site takes no side. Only the colours differ; size, order and defaults are the same.
2. Documents are kept separately by stance. Anyone can edit any paragraph, and every edit stays in the history. Rebuttals go in the talk.
3. Talk is grounded in documents. A post can quote a passage of a document.
4. Everything carries a stance. Documents, search results, links and talk posts all carry the #globe / #flat mark.
5. A stance can change. Changing one's mind is the reason this site exists.

Documents

• Evidence goes in the text itself. Write what was observed, the calculation, what a photo shows, the passage being quoted, inside the document. Leaving only a link with “see for yourself” is not enough.
• External links are references only. They say where the evidence is; the link itself is not the evidence. The document's reasoning must stand even if the link disappears.
• Adding or editing requires a one-line summary.
• There is no deletion. A removed paragraph stays in the history, and anyone can bring it back.
• A bad edit is undone from the history. The undo is recorded too.
• If your edit was undone, write your reasons in that document's talk before editing again.

Sanctions

• Anything on the list means permanent suspension. No warnings, no temporary bans. A permanently suspended account can no longer write or post.
• The list: abuse and personal attacks · exposing private information · advertising and promotion · flooding with repeated posts · impersonating a person or organisation · edits that erase or wreck other people's writing.
• Sanctions are for behaviour only. A stance or an opinion is never grounds. The rules are the same for every stance.
• “The content is wrong” is not grounds. That is argued in documents and talk.
• Writing is hidden, not deleted. Hidden writing shows who hid it, when, and under which rule. Wrecked edits are undone from the history.
• The record stays. Sanctions are shown on the profile, and sanctions made by admins are published the same way.
• One review. A suspended person may ask once for a review. A different admin, not the one who suspended them, checks only whether the list applies. If it does, nothing changes.
• Admins follow the same rules. An admin who breaks them is permanently suspended the same way and loses the role.
